NFL Week 6 Preview and Picks

NFL Week 6 Preview and Picks

Falcons at Saints, Thursday, 8:25PM

Summary: We thought the NFC South would be one of the weakest divisions in football, but the undefeated Falcons are one of the biggest surprises of this season. Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and breakout star Devonta Freeman have the Falcons with Super Bowl aspirations, but Drew Brees and the Saints are always a tough opponent.

Key Matchup: Saints offensive line vs the Falcons pass rush. If the Saints want to have a shot at winning this, they need to keep Brees upright and give him time to work through his progressions. Rookie pass rusher Vic Beasley is fast and dangerous and he might be the difference maker in this game.

The Pick: Falcons. They’re just operating at a different level than anyone else in the division and their schedule doesn’t get much harder from here on our.

Bengals at Bills, Sunday, 1:00PM

Summary: Another surprise, the Bengals are undefeated so far after knocking off the Seahawks last week in a come from behind victory. The Bills, however, are dealing with major injury issues and quarterback Tyrod Taylor looks doubtful for the game. Not a good sign against a very, very dangerous Bengals pass rush.

Key Matchup: Bills offensive line vs the Bengals pass rush. Geno Atkins and Michael Johnson must be licking their chops at this matchup. Backup quarterback and a shaky offensive line versus this pass rush? This might get ugly.

The Pick: Bengals. If the Bills didn’t have so many injuries, this might be a different game. But for now, the Bengals should win this one easily.

Broncos at Browns, 1:00PM

Summary: The Browns might not be the team we thought they were. While Josh McCown isn’t the quarterback of the future, he is operating at a very high level and the Browns are suddenly feisty. Meanwhile, Peyton Manning is winding down, but the Broncos defense is the best in the league for a reason: they’re damn good.

Key Matchup: Joe Haden vs Demaryius Thomas. Peyton Manning is going to be looking for his favorite target all day long, and Haden can give the Browns a fighting chance by locking Thomas down. If he struggles, which he has this year; the Broncos might not even need their defense for this game.

The Pick: Broncos. Quarterback advantage? Broncos. Receiver advantage? Broncos. Defensive advantage? Broncos. No question here.

Bears at Lions, 1:00PM

Summary: A matchup between two of the worst teams in the league. The Bears have won two in a row, but the front office seems intent on gutting this team from the inside out. Meanwhile, Matt Stafford got benched in an ugly loss last week. A new quarterback might be in their future.

Key Matchup: Matt Forte vs the Lions defensive front. The Lions suffered a huge blow this week when star linebacker DeAndre Levy was sidelined with a hip injury. That’ll require surgery, which is bad when the defensive front is going against a running back like Matt Forte. They need to step their game up.

The Pick: Bears. Stafford was benched, Megatron isn’t the guy he used to be and the Lions defensive is taking a huge step back this year. They’re in the drivers seat for the #1 pick in the draft.

Texans at Jaguars, 1:00PM

Summary: The Texans are 1-4, but have been somewhat competitive in each of their matchups. They have absolutely no idea who their quarterback is however. The Jags think they have something in Blake Bortles, but he’s not impressed so far in his career. They have a nice collection of young talent and need them to come together if they want to turn their season around.

Key Matchup: Jadeveon Clowney vs Luke Joeckel. J.J. Watt is going to get double-teamed all day long. That will leave Clowney with a lot of favorable matchups. He hasn’t lived up to the hype of the #1 overall pick so far, but could have a huge game against left tackle Luke Joeckel, who is terrible.

The Pick: Texans. The saying goes: “when you have two quarterbacks, you have none” but Hoyer and Mallett are each better than Bortles. Look for Nuke Hopkins to have a huge game against this weak Jaguars secondary.

Chiefs at Vikings, 1:00PM

Summary: The Chiefs have lost four straight and just lost Jamaal Charles for the season with an ACL tear. Meanwhile, the Vikings and Teddy Bridgewater might be one of the most underrated teams this season. Adrian Peterson is back and running all over people and the Vikings defense is full of young, talented players.

Key Matchup: Mike Wallace vs Marcus Peters. Marcus Peters has been playing very well for a rookie cornerback, but has given up the most touchdowns out of all the rookies so far. He’ll have a tough matchup this week in the speedy Wallace, who hasn’t lived up to the hype so far in Minnesota.

The Pick: Vikings. Jamaal Charles was their entire offense and Alex Smith isn’t a good enough player to pick up the slack. Teddy Bridgewater is a very talented player and might be on the verge of a breakout game.

Dolphins at Titans, 1:00PM

Summary: Joe Philbin got the boot in Miami, a team that had playoff hopes in the preseason. There are locker room rumors surrounding Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins don’t look like the team we thought they would. Meanwhile, Marcus Mariota has been playing at a very high level for the Titans and he has been on of the biggest surprises so far in the NFL.

Key Matchup: Dolphins secondary vs the Titans receivers. The key to Mariota’s success has been the Titans ability to scheme their wide receivers open, similar to how Oregon’s staff did it. If the Dolphins want to make Mariota uncomfortable, they need to blanket the receivers, not give up the underneath stuff, and make Mariota make plays with his arm.

The Pick: Titans. Teams with an interim head coach typically haven’t performed well. The Titans have lost three straight, but had a bye week to prepare for this game.

Redskins at Jets, 1:00PM

Summary: The Jets are… 3-1? What? How did that happen? Ryan Fitzpatrick is not a great quarterback by any stretch of the imagination, but he has been a game manager and the Jets have one of the best defenses in the league. Meanwhile, the Redskins can’t seem to decide if they want to rebuild or contend this year. This might be the biggest battle of game managers ever with Kirk Cousins still manning the Redskins.

Key Matchup: Redskins receivers vs the Jets secondary. Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie are lock down corners and will make life very, very difficult for Kirk Cousins. They have a good running game, but the Redskins can’t afford to get one-dimensional.

The Pick: Jets. The Jets are actually… good? This makes no sense.

Cardinals at Steelers, 1:00PM

Summary: The Steelers had a crazy, last second win last week thanks to Le’Veon Bell and Mike Vick. They’re still without Big Ben, but Vick has been a nice backup so far and the Steelers are banking on him and Bell continuing their success. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are one of the best teams in the league thanks to the newfound youth of Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald.

Key Matchup: Le’Veon Bell vs the Cardinals run defense. The Cards are only allowing 97.2 rush yards per game, but face the league’s best back this week. If Bell gets going, it limits the amount on Vick’s plate and makes the Steelers very difficult to stop.

The Pick: Cardinals. This game will be close, but the Cardinals will hold out for another victory. It’s always difficult to pick against Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown, but the Cards are a much more balanced team.

Panthers at Seahawks, 4:05PM

Summary: Who would have thought that the Seahawks would be 2-3 and the Panthers would be 4-0 heading into this game? Seattle has struggled this year on both sides of the ball. Marshawn Lynch will play in his game, but the Panthers get back all-world linebacker Luke Kuechly for this game to counter this.

Key Matchup: Seahawks run game vs the Panthers run defense. Lynch is dynamic when healthy, which he hasn’t been this season. Meanwhile, Kuechly’s return means so much for this Panthers defense. Whoever wins this matchup will win the game.

The Pick: Panthers. Russell Wilson is still good, but Seattle’s offensive line has been terrible and the Panthers run defense will stop Lynch from having a monster game. Cam Newton won’t be asked to do much on offense, but all he needs to do it limit the turnovers to win this game.

Ravens at 49ers, 4:25PM

Summary: This matchup of two 1-4 teams might get ugly. On one hand, the Ravens have struggled on defense due to injuries. However, Colin Kaepernick is not the same quarterback he was a few years back and the 49ers have nothing on offense either.

Key Matchup: Joe Flacco vs the 49ers secondary. Flacco is clearly the better quarterback in this matchup and the 49ers boast one of the worst pass defenses in the league. Limit the turnovers through the air, and Flacco might have a huge game.

The Pick: Ravens. When in doubt, pick the team with the better quarterback. The 49ers are on their way to a Top 5 pick in the draft.

Chargers at Packers, 4:25PM

Summary: The Packers have been rolling despite Aaron Rodgers finally snapping his streak of home games without an interception that had lasted since Rome was the world’s greatest power. He is the best quarterback in the game but Phillip Rivers on the other side is still not getting the credit he deserves. They lost on the last second to the Steelers, but Rivers is still one of the better quarterbacks in the league.

Key Matchup: Melvin Gordon vs the Packers run defense. The Packers have, surprisingly, one of the league’s worst run defenses. Gordon is still a rookie, but he needs to do more to relieve some pressure from Rivers. If the Chargers get more balanced on offense, they have a shot.

The Pick: Packers. Rodgers might be throwing picks at home now, but he is also throwing touchdowns. The Packers have Super Bowl sights and are certainly rolling through their schedule.

Patriots at Colts, 8:30PM

Summary: DEFLATEGATE REMATCH! The first game since the infamous Deflategate scandal, the two teams have clearly been trending in opposite directions. The Pats are the defending Super Bowl champs and are undefeated. Meanwhile, the Colts are 3-2 but Andrew Luck is questionable for this game. That means aging veteran Matt Hasselbeck might start his third consecutive game for the Colts.

Key Matchup: Rob Gronkowski vs the football. Gronk is known for his epic spiking of the football when he scores. This could pose problems for the PSI level of the football, as there is a chance some air is released when he spikes it with such force. The football’s ability to stand up to the spiking will be a key matchup in this game.

The Pick: Patriots. Luck out? No question here.

Giants at Eagles, Monday, 8:30PM

Summary: The Eagles have struggled all year, but regained their footing with a win over the Saints. The offense is terrible, but maybe things will get better with time. The Giants, on the other hand, are on a three game winning streak, mainly due to the improved play of Eli Manning and the passing game.

Key Matchup: Odell Beckham Jr vs Byron Maxwell. OBJ hasn’t been phenomenal this year, but is still a very dangerous receiver. Meanwhile, Maxwell has struggled this year and is liable to give up yards due to penalties as well.

The Pick: Giants. Manning and the Giants have a chance to run away with the NFC East here. The Cowboys are suffering from injuries, the Redskins have a backup at quarterback and the Eagles have yet to find their identity.

NFL Week 5 Preview and Picks

NFL Week 5 Preview and Picks

Colts (2-2) at Texans (1-3), Thursday, 8:25PM

Summary: Andrew Luck is out again and Matt Hasselback isn’t healthy either, but he’ll be the starter for this game. Meanwhile, J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney should be licking their chops at this game with the opportunity to terrorize a backup quarterback. Someone needs to step up for the Colts in this game.

Key Matchup: Texans D-line vs the Colts O-line. No question here. If Watt sets up shop in the backfield, this game could get ugly.

The Pick: Texans. The Colts have struggled even with Andrew Luck and barely got by the Jaguars. Watt and Clowney should have a huge game.

Bills (2-2) at Titans (1-2), Sunday, 1:00PM

Summary: The Bills are, surprisingly, one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL with the combination of a dangerous Rex Ryan defense and Tyrod Taylor and a sparky offense. But with LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams likely out, they might have trouble getting going. On the other side, this will be the best defense Marcus Mariota will have faced this year. How will he respond?

Key Matchup: Bills D-line vs the Titans O-line. For the Titans to win, they need to give Mariota time to operate. That’s easier said than done against a very, very nasty Bills defensive front.

The Pick: Bills. This might be the best defense in the NFL and they should have a field day with a rookie quarterback.

Browns (1-3) at Ravens (1-3), 1:00PM

Summary: The bottom of the AFC North faces off. The Ravens certainly have the talent to be a better team, but have struggled so far this season. Meanwhile, the Josh McCown-led Browns have been competitive, but you can only go so far with a team led by Josh McCown.

Key Matchup: Steve Smith vs Joe Haden. If Smith is healthy, he’ll be huge for this game. Haden hadn’t had a good year so far, so Joe Flacco might be able to pick on him a bit.

The Pick: Ravens. I don’t trust any team with McCown under center. The Ravens should have a nice bounce back win after their near-miss versus Pittsburgh.

Bears (1-3) at Chiefs (1-3), 1:00PM

Summary: The Bears got their first win on the season with Jay Cutler returning from injury last week. But they have started shopping players around and look to be in rebuilding mode. The Chiefs need to take advantage of this lackluster attitude in this game.

Key Matchup: Bears receivers vs the Chiefs secondary. Rookie cornerback Marcus Peters might be the best rookie defensive back this year, but he’ll have a big test, along with the rest of the secondary, with these Bears receivers, even with Alshon Jeffrey questionable.

The Pick: Chiefs. The Bears are looking ahead to the NFL Draft already and are shopping players. No question here.

Seahawks (2-2) at Bengals (4-0), 1:00PM

Summary: Who would have thought that the Bengals would be 4-0 at this point? Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati offense has been spectacular and the Seahawks defense will have a big test in this game. The Seahawks escaped with a win over the Lions, mainly due to #BatGate, and will face better competition here.

Key Matchup: AJ Green vs Richard Sherman. Just like last week, Sherman will be on Green, the best receiver on the field. If he can lock Green down, it’ll make Dalton’s day that more difficult.

The Pick: Bengals. The Bengals are much more than just AJ Green and Andy Dalton has been very good so far. Meanwhile, the Seahawks have struggled offensively this year.

Rams (2-2) at Packers (4-0), 1:00PM

Summary: Green Bay might have one of the best offenses in the NFL, but they face a Rams defense that has the best front defensive line in the league by far. Rodgers will have to use his arm more in this game, because the running game might not be there.

Key Matchup: Aaron Rodgers vs the Rams D-line. Rodgers is spectacular at moving within the pocket and he’ll have a big test today with Aaron Donald and the rest of the Rams defensive line pressuring him constantly.

The Pick: Packers. They’re just too good, and Rodgers is the best quarterback in the league.

Jaguars (1-3) at Buccaneers (1-3), 1:00PM

Summary: Jameis Winston has struggled, as expected, but faces a much less talented Jags defense in this matchup. Meanwhile, Blake Bortles hasn’t improved all that much either, but faces a Bucs defense that might be able to pressure him more than he’d like.

Key Matchup: Jags receivers vs the Bucs secondary. The Bucs have been torched week in and week out and a Jags receiving core led by Allen Robinson will need to have a huge day to help Blake Bortles.

The Pick: Bucs. Jameis Winston should get back on track and Mike Evans will finally get back to his rookie form. It’s only a matter of time before the two develop a rhythm.

Saints (1-3) at Eagles (1-3), 1:00PM

Summary: The Saints sneaked out a win over the Cowboys in overtime last week and face another NFC East opponent in the Eagles in this matchup. The Eagles are terrible and it’s only a matter of time before Chip Kelly’s experiment comes to an end. Sam Bradford needs to have a huge day, because the Eagles have been terrible running the ball.

Key Matchup: Eagles running game vs the Saints defensive line. The Eagles have been one of the worst running teams in the league. If they can’t run the ball, this one might get ugly.

The Pick: Saints. Drew Brees carved up the Cowboys and there’s no reason to think he won’t have an even better performance against a bad Eagles defense.

Redskins (2-2) at Falcons (4-0), 1:00PM

Summary: Are Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman the new Triplets? Seems like it, because those three might be the most explosive players in the NFL so far this season. The Redskins have quietly sneaked out two wins on the season, but they have a tough test against what might be the best offense in the league.

Key Matchup: Julio Jones vs the Redskins secondary. Jones has been lighting up the league so far and the Redskins need to make locking him up a priority. But if they spend too much time on him, it might free up Freeman and the running game.

The Pick: Falcons. No question here. The NFC South was thought to be the weakest division in the NFL, but the Falcons are definitely proving everyone wrong.

Cardinals (3-1) at Lions (0-4), 4:05PM

Summary: The Lions are the lone team in the league without a win, which is surprising considering the individual talent on the team. Meanwhile, the Cardinals have been a major surprise this season with Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald playing like they’re 25 and Patrick Peterson and the secondary locking down receivers.

Key Matchup: Detroit receivers vs the Cardinals secondary. Calvin Johnson hasn’t been a dominant receiver for a while now and faces stiff competition in this Cardinals secondary, who will make life very, very difficult for Matthew Stafford.

The Pick: Cardinals. The Lions might feel like they were robbed of a win over the Seahawks, but this one should be an easy win for the Cards.

Patriots (3-0) at Cowboys (2-2), 4:25PM

Summary: The Cowboys get some reinforcements this week after suffering major injuries in their loss versus the Saints. Greg Hardy and Rolando McClain are back from suspension and it looks like Sean Lee will be healthy as well. Unfortunately, they face Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, and one of the best offenses in the league.

Key Matchup: Cowboys D-line vs the Patriots O-line. Greg Hardy and Tyrone Crawford need to get pressure on Brady in this game because if he’s allowed to sit back in the pocket and pick apart this struggling secondary, it could get ugly fast.

The Pick: Patriots. Brandon Weeden almost won the game last week for the Cowboys, but you can never bet against Touchdown Tom.

Broncos (4-0) at Raiders (2-2), 4:25PM

Summary: Derek Carr and Amari Cooper are developing a connection that should scare the rest of the NFL, but they face the best defense in the NFL in this matchup. DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller should have a field day pressuring this young quarterback. Meanwhile, Peyton Manning needs to watch out for Khalil Mack, but should have an easy day in this game.

Key Matchup: Amari Cooper vs the Broncos secondary. Carr will be looking for Cooper early and often, and if he can’t find him, he might be pressured into making mistakes.

The Pick: Broncos. The best defense in the league versus a very young offense. No question here.

49ers (1-3) at Giants (2-2), 8:30PM

Summary: The 49ers have struggled mightily, which was expected of them. The Giants have also struggled, even with all-world Odell Beckham Jr at receiver. This matchup looked a lot more appealing a few year ago, but could become a slop-fest on Sunday night.

Key Matchup: Colin Kaepernick vs the Giants pressure. Kaepernick struggles under pressure and the Giants will bring a ton of it in this game. How he responds will be very key for the 49ers.

The Pick: Giants. Eli Manning and OBJ should have a field day in this one.

Steelers (2-2) at Chargers (2-2), Monday, 8:30PM

Summary: Ben Roethlisberger is still out, which means Michael Vick is still starting for the Steelers. Meanwhile, the Chargers are finally starting to get things going offensively. Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown need to have a huge day if Steelers are to have a shot.

Key Matchup: Le’Veon Bell vs the Chargers D-line. Bell will certainly be the bell-cow in this game and how well he plays in this game will definitely be key in this game.

The Pick: Chargers. Not feeling the Steelers in this one, even if Bell and Brown have big days.

BYE: Dolphins, Vikings, Jets, Panthers

NFL Week 4 Preview and Picks

NFL Week 4 Preview and Picks

Ravens at Steelers, Thursday, 8:25PM

Summary: Without Big Ben, the Steelers turn to Michael Vick against a struggling Baltimore defense. Vick is a terrible quarterback, but has Antonio Brown to throw to and Le’Veon Bell commands attention. Baltimore has struggled offensively as well and will be without tight end Crocket Gillmore.

Key Matchup: Le’Veon Bell versus the Raven’s defensive front. Vick isn’t a threat through the air and Pittsburgh will lean on Bell in this game. If Bell is able to get running lanes, he has the ability to run away with this game.

The Pick: Ravens. I don’t trust Michael Vick in a starting role, simple as that. When in doubt, go with the better quarterback and that’s Joe Flacco.

Jets at Dolphins (in London), Sunday, 9:30AM

Summary: Miami was supposed to be a dark horse playoff contender with the acquisition of Ndamukong Suh in free agency. Ryan Tannehill has struggled as well and Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie won’t make his job any easier. For the Jets, Ryan Fitzpatrick needs to develop a rhythm with Brandon Marshall early in this game.

Key Matchup: Jets defensive line versus the Dolphins offensive line. The Jets have a nasty defensive front and if they’re able to get consistent pressure on Tannehill, this game will be over fast.

The Pick: Jets. They have one of the best defenses in football and Miami has struggled offensively. As long as Ryan Fitzpatrick doesn’t turn it over a bunch, Jets should run away with this one.

Giants at Bills, 1:00PM

Summary: Rex Ryan, Tyrod Taylor and the Bills are a dangerous team this year. They have a nasty defense and their offense is finding it’s mentality as well. For New York, Odell Beckham Jr. is always dangerous and, so far, Eli Manning is having a pretty solid season.

Key Matchup: Odell Beckham Jr versus the Bills secondary. Buffalo is going to get pressure on Eli and he’ll be looking for OBJ down the field for quick passes. If OBJ is able to exploit this secondary and get open, it will make Eli’s job that much easier.

The Pick: Bills. Tyrod Taylor and emerging star Karlos Williams are quietly building a very good offense and I don’t think the Giants will be able to keep up with them, especially against this nasty Bills defense.

Panthers at Buccaneers, 1:00PM

Summary: Cam Newton really might be Superman. His best wide receiver is Ted Ginn and Cam’s still having a good year through the air. Tampa’s offensive line was able to keep Jameis Winston upright against Houston, but they struggled to run the ball and this Carolina defense might be even better at stopping the run.

Key Matchup: Mike Evans versus Josh Norman. Norman might be the most underrated cornerback in the NFL and if he’s able to lock down Mike Evans, that’ll only make Winston’s day tougher.

The Pick: Carolina. Cam should have a field day with this Tampa defense, both through the air and with his legs.

Raiders at Bears, 1:00PM

Summary: Derek Carr and Amari Cooper are developing a rhythm that should scare defenses all over the league and Latavius Murray is having a good year on the ground. On defense, Khalil Mack is an absolute monster and the move to defensive end is really paying off. Jimmy Clausen is set to start again and, with Alshon Jeffrey injured, he could have a rough day.

Key Matchup: Matt Forte versus the Oakland defensive front. Chicago will lean on Matt Forte and, honestly, he might be their entire game plan. Not a good strategy for a Chicago team that seems to have mailed it in already.

The Pick: Raiders. You have to love how well Amari Cooper has transitioned into the league. He’s a star in the making and Derek Carr is definitely improving along with him.

Chiefs at Bengals, 1:00PM

Summary: The Chiefs finally passed a touchdown to a wide receiver, but were torched by the Packers last week. Unfortunately for them, Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati offense is ranked #2 in the NFL with 414.3 yards/game. Dalton is having a very good year and A.J. Green is always electric on the outside.

Key Matchup: Justin Houston versus the Bengals offensive line. If Kansas City wants to win this game, they’ll need a huge day from Justin Houston. He needs to consistently pressure Andy Dalton, because so far he’s been able to pick apart defenses at will.

The Pick: Bengals. Andy Dalton will have a tougher test against Marcus Peters and this Chiefs secondary, but I’ll take this Bengals offense in this matchup.

Texans at Falcons, 1:00PM

Summary: Julio Jones is lighting up the scoreboard and is definitely making his case for the best wide receiver in football. Devonta Freeman had a huge day on the ground versus the Cowboys and, defensively, Vic Beasley looks as good as advertised as a pass rusher. J.J. Watt is still one of the best players in football, but the Texans have struggled offensively.

Key Matchup: Julio Jones versus the Houston secondary. The Texans haven’t faced a receiver like Jones yet this season. They currently rank #12 in the NFL in pass yards/game, but that might go down after this game.

The Pick: Falcons. The Falcons have one of the most balanced offenses in football and, simply put, I don’t think the Texans will be able to keep up with them

Jaguars at Colts, 1:00PM

Summary: The Jags gave up 51 points to New England last week and face a Colts offense that certainly has the capability of scoring that many points if it wants to. Andrew Luck has struggled this season, but faces a Jags secondary that gives up 282.7 passing yards/game.

Key Matchup: Allen Robinson versus Vontae Davis. If the Jags have any shot at winning this, Blake Bortles needs to find Allen Robinson early and often. Vontae Davis might make that difficult to do.

The Pick: Colts. Andrew Luck and the Colts offense has been surprisingly pedestrian so far this season, but should be able to regain their mojo against this terrible Jags defense.

Eagles at Redskins, 1:00PM

Summary: The Redskins were supposed to be bad, and they are. The Eagles were supposed to be good, and they’re bad. Sam Bradford and Demarco Murray have not been as good as advertised. Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins still starts for Washington. This game could get ugly fast.

Key Matchup: Eagles offensive line versus Washington’s defensive front. Sam Bradford looks lost at quarterback, so it’s up to the running game that averages a terrible 64.3 yards/game to step up. If the Eagle’s offensive line can open holes for the running game, it’ll help relieve pressure on Bradford.

The Pick: Eagles. It’s hard picking between two terrible teams, so I’ll pick the one that’s not as terrible as the other.

Browns at Chargers, 4:05PM

Summary: By starting Josh McCown over Johnny Manziel, Cleveland has shown that it’s practically given up on this season already. They’re trying to get the #1 overall pick in next year’s draft and it’s pretty obvious. The Chargers have struggled offensively, but should have a very good day against this Browns defense that got torched by Derek Carr last week.

Key Matchup: Keenan Allen versus Joe Haden. Haden was beat badly by rookie Amari Cooper last week and he doesn’t have it any easier against Keenan Allen this week.

The Pick: Chargers. One step closer to the #1 pick for the Browns.

Vikings at Broncos, 4:25PM

Summary: The Broncos are off to a fast start and have the best defense in the league. Peyton Manning is still upright (so far) and Demaryius Thomas is living up to his new contract. Meanwhile, the Vikings offense is definitely benefiting from the return of Adrian Peterson, but they need Teddy Bridgewater to continue to develop.

Key Matchup: DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller versus the Viking’s offensive line. If the Vikings want any shot at winning this game, they need to keep Teddy upright. That’ll be difficult against the best pair of pass rushers in the league.

The Pick: Broncos. I wanted to pick the Vikings here, but the Broncos have been too good on both sides of the ball.

Packers at 49ers, 4:25PM

Summary: It’s a tale of two cities. Aaron Rodgers is drawing comparisons to Michael Jordan for his play, while Colin Kaepernick tossed four interceptions last week. Green Bay looks to be on track to make a serious Super Bowl run while the 49ers look on track for a Top 5 draft pick. This game couldn’t be between two more different teams.

Key Matchup: Colin Kaepernick versus the Green Bay pass rush. Kaepernick tossed four interceptions last week and looked lost under Arizona’s pressure. If he isn’t able to withstand the Green Bay pass rush, things could get ugly.

The Pick: Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers is playing like the best quarterback in the league and, against a rebuilding 49ers team, he could put up another impressive stat line. We have come a long way from Kaepernick running all over the Packers in the 2013 playoffs.

Rams at Cardinals, 4:25PM

Summary: Arizona has been the surprise team of the league with their aging veterans playing like younger versions of themselves. Carson Palmer is healthy and slinging the ball well and Larry Fitzgerald is thriving in his new slot role. Unfortunately, they have to go against the Rams and their impressive defensive line, which leads the league in sacks.

Key Matchup: Rams receivers versus the Cardinal secondary. This Cardinals secondary might be the best in the league with Patrick Peterson locking down receivers and Tyrann Mathieu patrolling the backfield. If the Rams have any shot of winning this game, they need to get receivers open. Tavon Austin is an incredible athlete, but has yet to live up to his potential.

The Pick: Arizona. The Rams upset the Seahawks in week one, but haven’t posted a win yet. Arizona’s veterans are playing out of their minds. This is a no brainer.

Cowboys at Saints, 8:30PM

Summary: No Tony Romo. Possibly no Drew Brees as well? Brees sat out last week, but looks to be back for this matchup. If he’s back, that means trouble for this Cowboys defense that was destroyed by Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman last week. Brandon Weeden, Terrance Williams and Joseph Randle have to get something going if the Cowboys want to win this one.

Key Matchup: Morris Claiborne versus Brandin Cooks. This time last year, Claiborne was riding the bench. Now he’s playing better than ever, but will face tough competition in the electric Cooks. Whoever is playing quarterback for the Saints will be targeting Cooks.

The Pick: Saints. No Tony Romo and no Dez Bryant hurts big time. Jason Witten is also injured. When Brandon Weeden’s your best option at quarterback, things aren’t looking good. I think the Saints will win even if Brees doesn’t play.

Lions at Seahawks, Monday, 8:30

Summary: This matchup looked a lot more exciting in the preseason. Now, the Lions are 0-3 and the Seahawks are 1-2. Matt Stafford is struggling in Detroit and the Jimmy Graham trade in Seattle hasn’t panned out so far. Seattle’s offense is struggling as a whole and Beast Mode hasn’t seemed to have found his rhythm yet.

Key Matchup: Richard Sherman versus Calvin Johnson. Two of the best in the game. Stafford will be looking for Megatron this whole game and if Sherman is able to lock him down (easier said than done), it’ll make the rest of the defense’s job easier.

The Pick: Seahawks. I don’t believe in Detroit’s offense against this Seattle defense, which is still among the league’s best. Kam Chancellor’s presence certainly helped the defense last week and I think they’ll have an impressive showing on Monday night.
